In Week One this term all of Waikowhai Primary School partook in a neighbourhood clean up. A Litter Blitz!! It was exciting and depressing. Everyone was excited to be outside on a beautiful day doing something for the community and helping to keep our world a beautiful place. It was depressing because we picked up 200kg of rubbish in 1 and a half hours. That was with around 230 people all working together. So much rubbish is just thrown out onto the streets.
After our collecting we had a sausage sizzle together. The rubbish was collated by a group of students so we could see what was the most common things found. Cigarette butts, takeaway packaging and circulars were the worst.
Miss Abedin, the Hauraki student teacher also helped collect rubbish with a group of students.

I like your big rubbish it is huge!
It reminds me of a big junk yard.
Maybe you could get more rubbish to make it bigger.
