Sharing Soft Toys Online

At Hauraki's Friday class Google Meet we all had to bring a soft toy to the conversation and tell each other what the story behind our soft toy was. This was fun to both see the toys and hear where they came from. Some were gifts when we were born, some we bought ourselves, others belonged to parents and were much older, a few were gifted by family and one was from the winter Olympic Games. Ms Sands's grandson also joined some of the session with his favourite toy that he calls Bunbun. Here are a few screenshots taken from the recorded video.

  2. Hey Hauraki, it's fantastic to see you all with your soft toys. Kaiwhare did something similar in their meeting on Friday, they were asked to share something they had at home that was special. I tried to show one of our cats...but none of them would co-operate with me, so I shared my teddy bear too! I'm so pleased to see that so many of you are signing into the meetings each day - it is awesome that we are able to all be so connected during lock down. I can see many individual blogs have been posted since yesterday, so I'm going to go and have a look at them now. Ka pai Hauraki!

  3. It WAS a great time hearing the stories behind our stuffed toys. Most of Hauraki brought teddy bears, it would be great to see those teddy bears at their windows. There were so many different animals and so many stories. It was an enjoyable and fun time we had.
It's great that you put this on the Te Waka Ako blog.
    Blog you later!!!

  4. Hi Hauraki,
It has been great to see you all connecting through technology. Very special for Micah to have joined Ms Sands in your morning stream. I bet he is loving the extra time he is getting to spend with her. It looks like you all have a variety of soft toys and stories to go with them. I hope to read about some of them on your own blogs.

  5. What a great idea Ms Sands! I think Waitemata might have to try that one day next week. I loved looking at everyone's special soft toys, I bet there were some interesting stories that went with them. We had a 'wear a hat' meet of Friday. On Monday we are going to do a 'listen and draw' activity. I look forward to seeing what other creative ideas we can come up with, don't forget to email your teacher if you have one!

  6. Hi Hauraki,
It’s great to see you all with your soft toys. I have put some of my girls toys in the window at my house. But I had to take my own teddy out of the window because he is SO old (as old as me!) and too much sun is not good for his fur. I have taken down the Easter egg shapes that were with the toys and now I’m working on something for ANZAC Day.... maybe some poppies, if I can find some red paper in my craft cupboard.
Keep up the great work. I am enjoying reading your posts. Stay safe in your bubble.

    1. Thanks Tyson, we have 19 or 20 students most days so most of the class joins. It is great to see 3everyone every morning. We wore funny or favourite hats today and read Cat in the Hat collectively - they each had 2 pages. That was cool. Have fun learning.
